The Hekima Place family mourns the loss of a dear friend, Josh Malenke, who passed away February 23, 2011, following a traffic accident. Josh volunteered at Hekima Place during the summer of 2009. He won the hearts of the girls and they earned a special place in his heart as well. He shared his talents by producing a video of his experience in Kenya. When he returned to Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania, he worked with fellow students there to raise funds for Hekima Place.
