We are so sorry we have been so quiet! We have been busy over the past few months working to improve the way we deliver updates! In an effort to streamline our efforts, we have moved to a new system and we may need your help!
During our transition to the new software platform, the automatic billing process was interrupted preventing any regularly scheduled donations from being processed. If you contributed to Hekima Place on a monthly basis through automatic billing, we are here to help re-establish your scheduled donations.
We are here to make this transition as easy as possible and there are so many ways to update your recurring donation:

Thank you again for your continued generosity and for making a difference in the lives of the children who live, love and learn with us!

We are so grateful for each and every one of you for your commitment and support to the girls of Hekima Place. Because of you, each child who comes under our care has an opportunity to create a brighter future for not only themselves but for their communities, for Kenya, and for the world.
In 2022, we faced many challenges from international conflict and extreme drought to inflation but with the support of each donor, each church partner, each inspired partner who stood by us, we were able to meet the increased need of support with open arms.
You are opening doors to incredible opportunities. You are creating a loving space for each child to grow and thrive. You are ensuring access to quality education to empower each child’s future.
Together, we are building the future… one girl at a time! Please reach out to me if you have questions or would like to discuss Hekima Place at lbright@HekimaPlace.org. I would love the opportunity to hear more from you! Check out the full report! ››

Our home has been buzzing with excitement, celebration, and hard work over the last several weeks!
- We have been blessed with rains! Over the past few weeks, Hekima Place has been showered with rains from the heavens which has turned our grounds into lush pastures that our cows love.
-
The four 2022 high school graduates visited Hekima Place in order to prepare them for the next steps in their education. The students received their laptops to help them aid them in their studies as they begin their first year in university.
-
During school break, many of the girls were able to travel to visit family for the Easter holiday. Before they traveled home, we celebrated the break with swimming, sliding, swinging, and playing!
-
We want to congratulate Eunice, Dorcas, and Stephanie as they were baptized in the water by Rev. Simon Peter Rumba of Deliverance Church. We are so proud of each of the girls and wish them many blessings as they continue to grow.
- To help the girls with their studies, the Mums and Uncles have joined forces to help each of them with their school assignments every evening.
-
We welcomed two new girls to the Hekima Place family! Please join us in welcoming Umir and Zara to our home! We are so grateful to have the opportunity to be part of their lives and watch them grow!

The 2023 school year is flying by as the second term kicks off to a fantastic start! We have so many updates to share with you from the first term!
-
The Pat Jacobs Laboratory is complete! As you may remember, we raised funds last Spring in order to bring STEM courses to the students of HHLC and we are happy to announce the construction has concluded and students are now learning biology and chemistry! Thank you to each and every person who contributed to the success of this project. We can't wait to see where the future leads as we expand our curriculum.
-
The HHLC Scouts took a field trip to attend the International Scouts Founders Day in Nyeri County. Their trip included swimming, soccer, and celebrating Mr. & Mrs. Bonden Powell, Scouts Founder.
-
In 2022, 12 HHLC students took the Kenyan National Examination Assessment. This examine tests the 6th grade student's understanding of the new skills based curriculum they have been learning such as agriculture, home sciences, and computer skills and helps determine the next steps in their educational journey. We are excited to report each student passed their exams! We are so proud of each and every one of the students who worked so hard. We continue to wish them luck as they continue their educational journey.
- 29 Hekima Hills Learning Centre students will sit for the Kenyan National Examination Assessment this year and are busy preparing. We ask you to keep them in your prayers as they get ready for this important milestone!

My name is Dorothy Basweti and I joined Hekima place in January 2008. When I joined Hekima Place, I felt I knew nothing but since then my life changed drastically into a happy life.
I learned that education is key. I never went to sleep hungry or went without clothing or shoes. I had a good place to sleep. Most importantly, Hekima Place showed me the importance of putting God first before I start my day.
Having good morals and great standards for myself help me to survive every day and I am really grateful and very thankful to Hekima Place for teaching me this. May God continue blessing it abundantly and give them strength to continue helping more children out here.
